ben-kyo

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026 Applies to: iOS app

ben-kyo is built to work entirely on your device. This page explains, plainly, what that means.

Data we collect

None. ben-kyo has no account system, no server, and no analytics or tracking of any kind. The people who make ben-kyo never receive, see, or store any of your data — there is nowhere for it to go.

What stays on your device

All of the above is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework, and is removed automatically if you delete the app.

Apple system frameworks

ben-kyo uses Apple's Speech, Translation, and Natural Language frameworks to transcribe audio, translate text, and analyze Japanese vocabulary. These run on-device wherever your device supports it. Where on-device processing isn't available, Apple's Speech framework may send audio to Apple's servers to perform recognition — that exchange is governed by Apple's own privacy policy, not ben-kyo's.

Permissions we request

Neither permission is used for anything beyond the feature you're actively using.

Third parties

ben-kyo does not share data with third parties, because it does not collect any to share.
